At Two Rivers, all members of the community are crew and not passengers. The family crew is the Two Rivers Parent School Association (PSA). The PSA supports the education of children at Two Rivers Public Charter School network, which includes three schools: 4th Street Elementary, Young Elementary, and the Middle School by fostering positive relationships among the school’s administration, faculty, trustees, and parents.

The PSA’s primary goals are:
     1. School-wide community building
     2. Ensuring families are key partners in the education of their
children to actively engage them in the life of the school community

Every parent or guardian of a Two Rivers Public School student is a member of the PSA. There are many opportunities to engage in the community:

Participant

The success of community building and engagement relies on the participation of families at Two Rivers. Family engagement starts with enrolling your student, and continues every day getting your student to school and ensuring homework gets done. It grows when you come to a school or PSA event or watch the video recording. It blossoms when you reach out to others in the community and encourage them to participate. 

Ward Ambassador

Be the link between your local community and your Two Rivers community! Ward Ambassadors represent your community’s interests. They also engage in community building and recruitment activities targeted to their local area. If you are interested in serving as a ward ambassador, contact Fatima Graham, Student and Family Empowerment Coordinator.

Committee Volunteer

PSA activities are coordinated by committees. A committee may serve all three schools in the network, or the specific needs of one school. Although the committees may change annually to reflect PSA priorities, the need for volunteers is constant! Contact your school PSA leadership (on your school’s web page) to find opportunities. Also look out for calls for volunteers on regular school communication channels.

PSA Chapter Leader

Parent leaders serve on the PSA to represent the voice of our diverse community at Two Rivers. Parent leaders are committed to the mission and vision of the school. They typically also serve as committee chairs. To nominate yourself or another member of the community, contact Fatima Graham, Student and Family Empowerment Coordinator.

Room Parent

Be the link between your student’s crew and the families! Room parents facilitate communication amongst classroom parents, aid in organizing and recruiting for school/crew based connection events, organize collection of needed classroom supplies, and provide additional assistance as requested by the teacher. If you are interested in serving as a room parent, contact your child’s teacher.

PSA Officer

Each school has a PSA chapter with a president and secretary. There is also a PSA treasurer that serves the network. Officers are elected annually by the PSA membership. If you are interested in serving as an officer in the PSA, contact Fatima Graham, Student and Family Empowerment Coordinator.
