Dear Two Rivers Family,
I am writing to share that this will be my last school year as the Executive Director at Two Rivers. Though I have deeply loved my 16-year journey as the leader of Two Rivers, I am ready to try a different role and know the network is in a strong place for a new leader.
Many of you have heard me share the story of our visioning session for Two Rivers, back in a Capitol Hill townhouse crowded with interested parents in 2003. In that moment we discovered a shared dream for a school that would capture the joy of learning, make school relevant and important for students, and be a place where students, staff, and families came together as a kind and engaged community. It has been my honor to nurture that dream and help build an organization devoted to realizing the mission that has been the same throughout our entire existence, to nurture a diverse group of students to become lifelong, active
participants in their own education, develop a sense of self and community, and become responsible and compassionate members of society.
Over the years, we have grown from a school with 150 students and 25 staff in the rented wing of a building to a network of almost 1,000 students, 150 staff, and 3 buildings. With this growth
has come new challenges, and new opportunities to serve children and families. Though there have been many changes along that journey, one thing has been consistent – it has been my
pleasure every day to come to work in a community that celebrates learning – for both adults and children. As I transition out of the role of Executive Director, I look forward to making sure
that the future of Two Rivers is a sustainable one, where students are successful, families are engaged, and staff feel valued and supported as we work together to reach our mission.
I will be here through the end of the school year, and have assured our Board of Trustees that I will provide any help necessary to find and support the next Executive Director. The Board of Trustees is in the process of hiring a search firm and putting together a transition committee to lead the school through this change. There will be multiple opportunities for staff, students,
and families to engage in the process to find a new Executive Director. Our Board of Trustees will reach out in the coming days to share more information about the search process and timeline.
I know some of you may have questions or concerns. I will host an informal coffee in each building next week if you’d like to stop by and chat. Feel free to come see me at 4th Street on Wednesday, October 30th from 8:00-9:15 and at Young on Friday, November 1st from 8:00-9:15. You can also reach out to me via email, jwodatch@tworiverspcs.org.
I have loved and cherished the opportunity to work with you and learn from you over the past 16 years. Being a founding member and a leader of this community will always be one of the
things of which I’m most proud. I look forward to having a wonderful year, to supporting the network through this transition, and to helping launch the next great chapter for Two Rivers.
With gratitude,
Jessica K. Wodatch
