(She/Her) Vanessa Walker is an experienced educator who brings almost a decade of both general education and special education experience to the Two Rivers team. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University in environmental sustainability and spent 7 years as an operations manager in the sustainable food industry prior to pursuing a career in education. Her path brought her to back to school in 2015 when she earned her teaching certification at the Boston University Graduate School of Education. She taught science for both public and charter schools in the Boston area and moved back to the DC area 2020 to teach special education. Vanessa has worked as a school operations coordinator for Teach for America and has presented at local and National conferences on the topic of inclusive education. She earned the Excellence in Urban Education Sontag prize in 2016 and 2017. She is a mother of two who loves gardening, baking and hikes in the wilderness. Vanessa believes deeply in the power that expeditionary learning has to uplift and empower all students.
