Vaccine Ambassadors

Vaccination information can be confusing. This is why parents and staff at Two Rivers created the Vaccine Ambassador program. Vaccine Ambassadors are TR parents or staff who meet people where they are on their vaccination journey. They can help unpack data in a non-judgemental way and provide light assistance in finding vaccination sites. Please send Khizer Husain a message on ParentSquare or email at khusain@tworiverspcs.org.

Meet the Vaccine Ambassadors

Khizer Husain

I have been part of the Two Rivers community since 2013, most recently as the Director of External Relations. I started my career in public health and I think that the TR Vaccine Ambassador program is a brilliant way to build crew and stay healthy!

Letizia Valentín-Friebele

I joined the Two Rivers community through my husband, David Friebele, who is a 6th grade Math teacher at Two Rivers. I am a practicing pediatrician in the DC area who is wholeheartedly invested in the health and safety of children through preventative medicine.  Vaccination is how we achieve a better and safer future, and that is why I became a TR Vaccine Ambassador.

David Friebele

This is my second year as the 6th grade math teacher at Two Rivers Middle School.  I am married to a pediatrician and have a friend that works in the ER here in Washington DC, so I am one degree of separation away from the devastation of this disease.  I want to keep Two Rivers families and students safe, so I became a TR Vaccine Ambassador.

Jangela (Shumskas) Wendel

Jangela is the mom to Gabriel in kindergarten Crew 204 and has been a part of the Two Rivers 4ES community since 2020.  Professionally, Jangela is an innovation strategist that works in the national security and health security space.

Brendan Saloner

My daughters are in PreK3 and Kindergarten at the Two Rivers 4th Street Campus. I am a public health researcher and I am a TR Vaccine Ambassador because I know that vaccination is going to help all of us have a healthy and happy school year together!

Heather Burris

I am a new parent to TR Young and my son is in 1st grade. I am also the Immunization Division Chief at DC Health. I work every day to ensure children and adults are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases and it’s my pleasure to do this work more personally for our school community. I firmly believe vaccines save lives!
