NYU Resident Teacher, Special Education
| Middle School
Laurel (she/her) grew up moving around and exploring Florida, New Jersey, Michigan, and Missouri. She spent most of her time outside discovering what plants and wildlife surrounded her new home. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in science education from the University of Central Florida and has taught various grades and subjects with a certification in Biology. During her time at college, she worked for the Walt Disney Company to help keep her love for the arts alive and well. After stepping back from a formal educational setting, Laurel earned a TEFL-C certification in order to move to China and teach with the Disney English program.
She uses her interests in performing arts, music, science fiction, and comics to connect with students on a personal level and make the often overwhelming world of science easier to understand and enjoy. Laurel is currently working on her Masters in Special Education through New York University in order to help make learning accessible for all. Outside of school, she still loves to explore by visiting museums, seeing shows and concerts, and hanging out with her dog and cat.
