Beth Calano
Beth is originally from Hartford, CT, and is a proud graduate of Mount Holyoke College (2009) where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology. She’s lived in DC since 2010 and considers it her self-made home. Beth joined Urban Teachers in 2013 and completed her teaching residency and fellowship while earning a dual Masters of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education from Lesley University. She feels so fortunate to be part of the Two Rivers community, which she joined in early 2015. Beth has worked in grades 2-7 both as a general educator and special educator. She is passionate about building strong relationships with her students and families; helping students know themselves as learners; and ensuring access and agency for diverse learners.
Outside of the classroom, Beth enjoys cuddling her two cats, reading, laughing, and spending time with her son, Shiloh.
