Allyse grew up in Iowa and received her BA in Biology from Grinnell College. After college, she worked in a research lab at the National Institutes of Health studying the immune response to disease. She then moved to New York City and began teaching Life Sciences, Microbiology and Advanced Genetics at a public school in the Bronx. She taught 8th and 9th graders at this school for seven years. While in NYC, Allyse completed her Master’s degree in Science Education at Relay Graduate School of Education. She is happy to be back in Washington DC and excited to join the Two Rivers team. She believes student-centered, project-based instruction is the most effective way to teach young scientists.
