Additional volunteer opportunities include, My School DC EdFest, school fairs, group tours during the week and outreach events in the community. All Parent Ambassadors will attend a training session. Happy Socktober!

Even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. Please join in the Socktober tradition by donating NEW socks in adult or child sizes. Drop off 1 pair or 10 pairs, there's no limit! The Two Rivers PSA is collecting socks for the homeless as our October community service initiative. Collection boxes are located in the elementary and middle school lobbies. Donations will be accepted during the entire month of October. For more information about Socktober, you can also visit www.happysocktober.com.

Donors Make It Happen!

NorthBay - our 6th graders' week-long science and adventure trip - is fundamental to the Two Rivers' middle school program. This year, we are thrilled that DC Housing Finance Agency generously underwrote the entire cost of this experience! We rely on these contributions to ensure that we give access to all students, regardless of their ability to pay or to fundraise. We graciously appreciate this donor's support and couldn't have done it without one of their employees (also a TR parent) who mentioned this transformational opportunity to the company's community engagement team. Thank you, DCHFA!

Two Rivers Parents' Night Out!

Want to get to know our amazing community of parents at Two Rivers? Attend the first Parents' Night Out evening on Thursday, November 1st from 7-9:00 pm at The Pursuit Wine Bar (1421 H Street NW). Ten percent of all proceeds will support the Two Rivers PSA fund (all proceeds are split between the Young and the 4th Street campuses). This PNO will be hosted by families of the first grade classes representing both campuses.

Congratulations, Team!

Congratulations to our MIddle School GIrls' Volleyball Team on an amazing season. They finished the season as quarterfinalists. Thanks to the team, Coach Tarik, Captain Maeve, Coach Ricardo, and Coach Toni for exhibiting our scholarly habits by working hard, collaborating, and showing amazing sportsmanship! We can't wait to see what you do next year!

Book Launch at the Folger
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has written Bold & Brave, an inspiring book for children (geared towards 8-12 year olds) that looks at ten influential suffragettes and their journey that took more than 70 years of passionate commitment.

The Folger would like to invite students and their families to join Senator Gillibrand and her guests at a conversation for children and adults about women's right to vote on November 26, 6:30-7:30PM.

Seating is limited; reserve your seats at tinyurl.com/folger1126.

Scholarly Habit Awards

On Wednesday, October 31st, during Community Meeting, we will be presenting Scholarly Habit awards! These awards are being given to students from preschool through 5th grade that consistently exemplify one or more of our Scholarly Habits. We are all very excited to begin this new tradition of recognizing students who are truly living these tenets of strong character.

Fall Gardening Day at 4th Street

Come on out to the 4th Street campus on Sunday, November 4 from 9:30 - 10:30 am to help put the gardens to bed for the winter. We'll be doing a final weeding and pruning of the gardens in front of the elementary school and middle school. Tell your friends, and bring the kids. Bring garden gloves and tools, too, if you have them. Your reward for the early morning volunteer work: coffee and donuts! Any questions, please contact Karen Ancillai (mom to 1st grader, Rachel) at karen@ancillai.com, lead for the 4th Street Garden Committee.

Free (and Easy!) Opportunities to Help Raise Money for the PSA
In previous years, Two Rivers families have earned more than $2000 for school and PSA activities by simply grocery or online shopping. Help the school earn money again this year with Harris Teeter, Giant, and Amazon and by clipping Box Tops from participating products. All proceeds are split between the Young and 4th Street campuses. Don't hesitate to ask grandparents, other family members, or neighbors, too! Every little bit helps.

Harris Teeter's Together In Education: Families must re-link their VIC cards each year! Please re-link your VIC card today. You can do so at the store, online (harristeeter.com/together-in-education; search for school code 7519), or by emailing the last name associated with your account, VIC card# (first 11 digits), and the phone number associated with your account to treasurer@tr-psa.org.

GIANT A+ For Kids: Link your bonus card, which can be done either at the store or online by registering your card at giantfood.com/school-rewards.

Amazon Smile: Go to smile.amazon.com and select Two Rivers PCS. After you sign up, just shop at smile.amazon.com to earn money for Two Rivers. You must shop at smile.amazon to earn points.

Don't Forget Your Box Tops
: Clip Box Tops from participating products, such as Ziploc, Kleenex, Motts Applesauce, and Betty Crocker. Each BoxTop is worth $0.10, so the rewards add up quickly! You can turn in Box Tops to the Box Tops boxes located in the lobby. The Two Rivers PSA can also earn an additional 5 bonus Box Tops when you subscribe to the BoxTops email newsletter. You'll receive coupons for Box Tops products, free samples, updates on our school's earnings progress, and more. Sign up now at BTFE.com/signup. Be sure to enter our Box Tops ID number (959182) so our school receives credit for the bonus Box Tops.
