Update for Families on Mayor Bowser's Extended Closure

Dear Two Rivers Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to share that Mayor Bowser just announced that schools will continue distance learning through April 27th because of COVID-19. This means that Two Rivers' schools will be closed through April 24th, with classes resuming as normal on April 27th. Based on this update, our spring break will remain as scheduled, April 13th-19th.

In her announcement, Mayor Bowser emphasized how important it is during this time to practice social distancing. She asked that everyone in the community stay home unless they are performing an essential function. Please keep students at a safe distance from others and please keep students from congregating in groups.

While today's news does not change our current plan for remote teaching and learning that is already underway this week, we will be in touch again soon with additional resources and plans in light of the extended period of remote learning ahead. We understand what a challenging time this is, and want to make sure that you and your students feel supported.

In the meantime, we encourage you to visit coronavirus.dc.gov for citywide resources related to finding meal sites, filing unemployment claims, and staying healthy. Two Rivers-specific updates can be found at tworiverspcs.org and will continue to be shared via School Messenger.

We have enjoyed talking to many of your children this week over the phone and across video screens, but it isn't the same as seeing them each day in person. Please let your children know how much we miss them! Thank you for your patience and support as we all work to live our mission and support each other during this challenging time.

Take care,

Aurora, Gail, Jeff, Jessica, Kenneth, and Khizer
